Where's the nearest waterfall? [ forget manners or introductions, she just thought of something and she's too excited to bother with anything else! in fact she couldn't even wait to sit down properly, just turned the gear thingy on while she was sitting in the grass after a training session with her ponyta. ]

Oh, um! I'm in Cherrygrove so...where's the nearest waterfall from there? [ this is all for you, Xiao'yu. clearly a waterfall is the solution to training you! there's some splashing noises coming from vaguely behind her where her feebas is resting in a bucket of water. Xiaoqiao does not seem to notice. ]

I think Flaming Rabbit will be strong enough to ride long distances soon, I've been training him every day since he hatched! So, so I think he'll be okay even if the trip is a bit long...

[ her ponyta wanders by, sitting down next to her and resting his head in her lap. yeah...her ponyta is named Flaming Rabbit. she plays with the flaming mane for a moment. ]

Of course! But only my sister and husband use it, everyone else just calls me Xiaoqiao. Where I come from most women don't use their name in public, only family members know and use personal names.

[ she giggles at that, more at her expression than the joke. ] It's a funny name, right? But I'm sure Flaming Rabbit will be able to live up to it!

I see. I suppose if my name was just reduced to a title, I'd be particularly irate because it doesn't show a particular view of the person behind the title. For you, it probably produces something entirely different because that's the culture and it doesn't have that type of meaning where you're from. Your world sounds extraordinary compared to most.

Like to you if someone is addressed by their title it's like they're being defined only by that? [ she's trying to understand. she gets along well enough but there are a lot of modern mannerisms and conventions that are confusing for her. ]

Well, I think I come really far in the past or something. There are a lot of things I've seen here that I could never have imagined!

Kind of, yes. Sometimes it detonates respect, like addressing someone as Doctor. But, in some cases, it's considered disrespectful. For example, in our world, teachers are called by the formula of a title and then their last name, like Mrs. Smith. If you just called them like, "Hey! Teacher!", it would be considered slightly impolite and demanding.

Ah. I believe I know that feeling. I'm from a hundred years in the past, so many of these things are often surprising and completely different for me!

I think there are times where using a title would be rude back home too...but actually a lot of times it's rude to use a given name, even if it's publicly known. Even your worse enemy you'd use their style name if you want to show that you want to show that you have a good upbringing. [ like Cao Cao. ]

Was it difficult for Lady Isabella to adapt to this place?

Ah, yes, but the English language usually uses tone to detonate a lesser status. A particularly cheery tone could mean that there's a condescending tone behind it because it portrays a tone similar to that of a child.

[ She reflects for a bit before answering. ]

In some ways, no. I'm use to traveling and strange animals. However, when it came to things like blenders, toasters and vehicles, yes. [ She's still the worst bicyclist. ]

Huh, I'd be in a lot of trouble then. I hope I haven't accidentally offended anyone. [ since cheery and chirpy is her default...granted sometimes she is being rude on purpose, but that's the exception rather than the norm. ]

Oooh, those are really strange! And the stove too, it's really convenient but really dangerous too!

Humans get most of the meaning of a message through tone and body language. I'm sure you have remained inoffensive.

Yes. The stove is sometimes very frustrating to properly operate. [ Not really, but she'll entertain this thought. ]

I imagine being a couple of hundred years behind will affect that though. I'll just have to try to learn a bit more...

Hm...I feel like everything is more convenient but more complicated at the same time.

Luckily, once you master one appliance, the others fall into place. Buttons are a beautiful thing.

That's the same feeling I used to get. Now, I know I'm going to go home and miss these life-helpers. I know I'll invent them back home now. [ HAHAHA she's going to be RIIIIIIIICH. ]

Oh, that sounds like a fantastic idea! It's a pity I don't think there'd be the materials for most of these things back home... [ nevermind that she really doesn't have the kind of knowledge necessary to figure out how they work. ]

So you think, but there actually is. These materials did not appear from nowhere, after all. They've always been there. The construction that leads to their form and function is a different story entirely. [ Unless Xiaoqiao lives underwater... in which case Lust has several questions. ]

Well, I am called bright but ambitious is a new one. [ ...Actually, it's the reverse. At best, people usually say, "YOU TRICKED US!!!!" when it comes to her brightness. ]

That's true but I can't imagine my home would have the skills to refine those materials the same way. [ they still hand forge everything. and use chamber pots. ]

It would be quite a grand undertaking! That's the kind of thing an ambitious person would dream of, I'm sure! [ said like ambition is something foreign to her...and it pretty much is. her greatest ambition is to live peacefully and have fun. ]

Well, for all I know, that might actually be true. Hopefully you get someone skilled in your world soon. [ Her very low faith in humans makes her realize that it'll probably take forever for Xiaoqiao's world to get an oven or anything mildly complex. ]

Are you not ambitious? [ She is kinda an important figure in her home world, from Lust's observations. ]

Maybe, I'm sure it would be very useful to people. [ in mundane things and in war. man, the things they could do with some of the stuff she's seen here. ]

Hm...no, I'm not really. I'm more of a simple person. [ besides, what would she do with ambition? all she wants is to enjoy life with the people she loves. ]

But you must have some goal or desire, no matter how simple?

Well, of course. Everyone wants something... [ but it's kind of embarrassing, because her desires are so exceptionally small compared to the people around her. and it's kind of strange to say something that genuinely sappy to a stranger. it's totally different from just spouting how awesome her husband is. ]

I just want to enjoy myself as much as I can!

And what do you desire the most? [ That question is like virtual sex for Lust. So many times she's preyed on people with it and coldly brought entire towns to ruin. She can't really do that here but the question itself gives her an intense excitement. ]

Such a simple, self-centered desire. Those are the ones that are easily accomplishable.

Well...the one I desire most is obviously my husband! [ yeah, she's just going to turn the question that way. because the what that she wants is fleeting and barely tangible in spite of how small it is. ]

It's the best that way, isn't it? I rather like being someone that doesn't know disappointment or pain. [ in large amounts anyways. besides, her superficial sort of innocence helps give soldiers hope. ]

You're married? How old are you? [ ....She seems too young to be married but then again anything under 100 is young for Lust. ]

That's a very privileged position to have in any circumstance. My best wishes it's upheld here. [ Not really. It'd be kinda entertaining to see her gain some depth, from Lust's really selfish perspective. ]

Oh, it's not unusual for girls to marry at fifteen where I come from. [ not that she's fifteen. but she can't just go around telling people how old she is, gotta keep some kind of mystery. ]

I doubt I'll suffer in this place. But your kind wishes are appreciated. [ she's pretty sure of that, the only thing she suffers here is homesickness. this weird and colourful place is totally at peace, something she could never have back home. ]
